DORA Statement and the CRediT Framework

Life and Science is a signatory of the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) and adheres to the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) framework. DORA is a declaration that adopts a vigorous, practical approach to research assessment in scholarly disciplines. DORA aims at improving the evaluation of researchers and scholarly outputs. Life and Science endorses the view that researcher's assessments should focus on quality and impact, and that research metrics are helpful in this process, but they are not a substitute for a comprehensive and complete review. For more information, visit the official DORA website: https://sfdora.org/

The  Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) initiative supports DORA’s vision to promote the practical and vigorous research assessment across scholarly disciplines. CRediT is a system for transparent authorship contribution that describes the roles and contributions of people involved in a research project.
The CRediT roles are visible and displayed within the author-name overlay box on the article page and in a contributions statement in the PDF version of the manuscript upon publication in Life and Science.
